You mark your buildings and at the buttom of the screen where the pause-unit button is there are 2 squares and press that button and you have a template.

Well, even though I'm not very good at this game and can still be beaten by the Extremely Difficult AI on Forged Alliance, this video makes me want to join this type of clan/group/team.
