okay, you have a beautiful layback. while i have a horrible one. please, help?
how do you get your hips out to start, and how do you keep your hips staying out when you bring it back?
please help, my layback is HORRIBLE. while yours is just gorgeous!

the layback spin is basically an illusion, bear in mind that it isn't as pretty standing still. my coach taught the position by standing directly in front of (and touching the wall)hold the boards and lean back a little, at the same time life up your free leg, but keep your hips against the wall. this is the trick, keep your hips square and bend your leg. Imagine a dog peeing on a fire hydrant. Another tip is to make your foot parallel to the ground, imagine balancing a tea cup on it.
