  • An important point to remember is that the UK overall is a more Liberal country than the US. Most people over here wouldn't bat an eye-lid about our taxes paying for healthcare for tourists.

  • that is the stupid selfish logic americans have.

i'm british and i don't mind paying taxes so a 'foreigner' can have health care when they're a tourist, tourists bring in revenue by the way. this host is so ignorant, it's not the government that decides what care you get it's the doctor.

  • I would rather pay for the NHS in the way I do than have to give some external insurance company however much to make sure I get treated, and I dont care about tourists being able to use it as it means they are more likeley going to come back knoing that if they get ill again then they wont have any major problems.

Quick question to the USA, if someone shot someone who didnt have insurance would the hospitals just turn them away or would they get treated but be in debt to the hospital?

  • HER GRANNY LEFT ENGLAND IN THE 60s BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF SPECIALISED CARE ??? YOUR HAVIN A LAFF ARENT YOU?

  • @3YzNOz

    Me too.

It would be nice to be treated the same way in other countries - but I think the NHS says everything good about the UK, regardless of creed, colour or religion, we'll look after you while you're here.

It is the sentiment that defines the UK above other lesser - so-called - civilised nations.

In family terms - we care for our kids, and the guests in our house.

    Why is there any debate?

  • Does Socialised medicine take away from choice?

UK PATIENT: "OOOWWWW. FUCK!! OWWW!!! - ... phew Thanks!" .. "Please sign here, you're free to go"

USA PATIENT: "OWWWW. FUCK!!! GEEEZZZ!!! ... phew. Thanks." ... "Please give your credit card details here."

  • Amazing that this basic element of civilisation should have to be practically spelled out to Americans, as though they were small children.

  • British Idea of Socialism: Some things, where money shouldn't be the bottom line, like the NHS, work best this way, about the state intervening and the wider public having control, other thing's don't work well this way... such as supermarkets

American Idea of Socialism: Aaaaah!!! Nazi Commies!!! It's Evil!!! Run Save Yourselves!!! The Feds Gonna Make You Abort Your Babies!!!

  • They just cant get it through there heads that if you brake your leg the last thing you need is to worry about how much its going to cost to get your BODY put right. I 100% agree that America is selfish. If a human being needs medical care be that a enemy or ally black or white male or female American or British they should have it no questions asked there and then. I'd gladly pay my share of the NHS bill just to know those people in that accident I just passed are getting the help they need.

  • people shouldnt be making money off healthcare, only wages should be paid and profit should be spent in improving medical knowledge or the comfort of patients and thats where america is way off. your health isnt an industry its a basic right.
