  • The red knight who succumbs to the Black queen is David Ashmole a wonderful dancer who sadly died recently. This film was made in 1982 so it is 27 years old and the technique and what was acceptable then was quite different from today's standards. Back then the performance was fabulous not for the high extensions, but for something else more ephemeral than that which we see so often in the ballets performed today.
