Maurice Chevalier, who has just gone into the capital, is the object of a report of newsreel of the occupied zone. Radio-Pariss are then a German and Nazi radio which broadcast in French, this radio has nothing to do with Radio-Paris, pre-war public radio, which stopped its broadcasting in June, 1940. Moreover, this radio is in the former studios of the Parisian Post, a private post which also stopped its broadcasting in June, 1940.

  • accused for collaboration? For singing French songs to a French audience? What´s next? Accusing bakers for baking bred? If other people in WW 2 had done nothing more than singing songs not one person had been killed. To accuse Chevalier who did not shoot one single movie during WW 2 and who had a jewish Girlfriend is the most stupid, silly and insane thing I´ve ever heard. Pierre Dac was the "genius" who accused Chevalier flasely by the way.

  • Yes it's true, he hid and protected Nita Raya and his family during the war. And thanks to him, she is always alive today. But, at the Liberation we blamed him to have sung on Radio-Paris, because Radio-Paris was a nazi-radio-station at this time (the French Radio-Paris stopped his broadcasting in June 1940)

  • Thank you for this very interesting video !

  • It's why Chevalier was accused of collaborationism in 1945.

  • Maurice Chevalier German collaborator. It killed His acting career all the way to the late 50s,He was blacklisted.

  • " Radio-Paris ment, Radio-Paris ment, Radio-Paris est allemand ! "

  • I just want to tell you, Radio Paris was the radio of the collaboration of the frenchs to the government vichy, and so to the government of Hitler. So, I understand that some people could accuse Maurice Chevalier for collaboration, because he sang on Radio-Paris.

  • There were French people who helped the Nazis to kill Jews and who worked for Hitler. Chevalier did sing French songs for French people. He could have worked in Hollywood with Lubitsch but he refused to leave his country. I am German and I admire Chevalier. My dad was in the German Wehrmacht in France with Rommel on D-Day. After the war my dad stayed in France many years and till his death he had French Friends.

  • great video
