The 3rd level of Castlevania is when it gets real. I hadn't played this in a while, but I managed to finish it without dying. The background music for this level is very good, and is one of Castlevania's most covered and remixed tracks. The music is called "Wicked Child"

And the award for my least favorite and most infuriating NES Castlevania (III) level: the GODDAMNED PIRATE SHIP LEVEL. I hate it so much....
I have to agree with you though on this one. 3rd level of CV1 always had one of my favorite bits of music.
