This is my juvenile duck that is about to turn one year old in April. She just laid her first clutch of eggs. We were about to move her and her mate into the new larger enclosure when we discovered the eggs. We decided to let her finish before we move them. I don't think they're fertile, but I don't want to discourage her from laying. I would've taken them from her had I even known they were there. Oh well!

  • is she a magpie duck?

  • @AlexDevoy

Yes, she is. I never knew about them until I adopted her. She's the sweetest duck. She loves to run up to me when I go in the yard. Then she'll lay down in front of me so that I'll bend down and scratch her back. :)

  • I honestly wish there were more people like you in this world, I have muscovy ducks by me on the lake, and they are so friendly and honestly on a down day they bring you happiness. people around here dont want me to feed them, but i dont care what they say. I love ducks there so cute. when i feed the 1 duck he lets me pet him.

  • Thanks for your very kind comments. Turns out you have a kind heart as well. It is good that you help take care of the muscovy ducks. They are domestic, and even though they can fly pretty good, they are still vulnerable. I agree, ducks have a special way of brightening up even the darkest days. You go ahead and keep taking care of those ducks. They need you!

  • Ducks lay their eggs one a day until the clutch is completed. That can take up to two weeks. She won't sit on the nest until that process is complete. Good luck!

  • 1:25 she sees the plane flying overhead. Ducks don't miss a thing flying over head

  • Hey also wanted to ask you did those eggs hatch ? you have babie ducks there now ? Its hard over here i seen baby muscovy like 12 of them with the mother. but dont see them that often. I know there very good with there babies. so i just hope there somewhere safe with her. around here only thing i worry about is the vulture or hawks. but its amazing how brave the mother duck gets around the babies

  • I use to feed the muscovys bread alot, but I know they will keep eating and heard that is bad for there diet ? I recently bought them like moist dog food steak bites they seem to like that. is that better for them ? when they hiss with each other that mean they upset with each other ? they like move there necks back and forth and hiss. ive seen make a noise and hair on top of there head sticks up kind of cute but can tell its mad about something lol. but anyways anymore info be great thank you
