See more at http://www.tacomanarrowsbridge.org This video shows actual pieces of Galloping Gertie, the famous bridge that collapsed in 1940. The movie is of some of the more impressive metal detector finds that had been buried below the Narrows bridge for more than 60 years, as well as some relics from the 1950 Narrows bridge construction & the new 2007 Narrows bridge too! Nobody had ever undertaken such an extensive search under the ground before, and the results are amazing. Included is the most unique, one-of-a-kind part of Galloping Gertie: the only known to exist cable band from one of the 2 main suspension cables. Along with it, are various parts & tools that were used both to build the bridges, and take the collapsed bridge down. This is true history of perhaps the most famous bridge disaster ever recorded that did not take a single human life.
I think that you are more obsessed than be about galloping gertie! It was such a nice bridge though! Multi-Girder deck form didn't work.. Any clue where can I find its blueprints?
