Students who will be attending or returning to Irondale High School will have a new principal this fall. Scott Gengler, who began his career teaching Phy Ed and health in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, most recently served eight years as a principal at Watertown-Mayer High School. He shared his excitement for the coming year at Irondale with Sun Focus.

A crowd gathered at St. Anthony's Salo Park last night to be entertained by The Moss Piglets, a blue grass band. The performance marked the final concert of the Salo Park Music Series. Every Thursday night throughout the summer, the public enjoyed free outdoor concerts in Salo Park, located in Silver Lake Village. The Moss Piglets' will perform next at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 31 at the 311 Club in Minneapolis.

You can help "Stitch Hope Together" at a local benefit on Saturday. The event features an African Dance Company and will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at Sunrise United Methodist Church in Mounds View (7687 Long Lake Road). Proceeds support the purchase of sewing machines for a village in Zimbabwe. There, adults can learn skills to earn incomes and create clothing for their children. Tickets are $25 at the door.
