I wish I'd seen this movie as a kid. I learned not to eat mummies the hard way :(

Wow...um, after seeing this after so many years I feel a sense of nostalgia and mockery at the same time. Sesame Street was supposed to teach children about morals and ideals and then they had this song...I remember when I was a kid I used to take this song quite seriously. Now I can't stop laughing. I'm actually half tempted to go to the Metropolitan sometime in the near future and see if I can get away with singing this song without being thrown out.

The comments Cookie starts making at around 2:28 to the Greek Chorus are cute. "You still here?" "Okay, okay..." "Me know!"

I loved this movie (especially this song) growing up... and now I'm a mommy, so I had to find it so my little girl can watch. ^_^

6 dislikers tried eating pictures, mummies or statues at a museum, and got a little "Stick- Time" from the museum's security guards as a result.

btw, why would a mummy be on display at an art museum? Wouldn't that be more like something seen at a history museum?

They weren't going to leave the museum without Big Bird.  Maybe they were afraid that the guard would kick them out before they found him.

Here, Cookie Monster wants to eat things that aren't even food, much less cookies in particular. Years later, people freaked out at the idea that Cookie Monster would eat vegetables. Conclusion: people are idiots, and Cookie Monster thinks many things are delicious.
