Good fucking heaven, this is excessively good. I must be only imagining this song

@gweiss27 forgot to mention: while interweaving two different rhythms with her hands, her voice is elaborating yet a third. The beauty of the piece lies in the patterns created by the interplay of these phrases. The reason it sounds weird to you is that in traditional Western music, we are accustomed to the vocals sticking fairly uniformly to the underlying beat of the music, not being used as a rhythmic counterpoint.
I thought the point of art was to *create*. Why want everything the same?

@gweiss27 It's called polyrhythm. It means she's playing two completely separate rhythms, one with each hand. You couldn't do it if you had a thousand lifetimes to try in. :P
As for looks, Google image search her name; images 2 and 8 on page two should do. As for talent, she is one of the most universally acclaimed artists to appear in the 2000's, but I suppose you know more than the world's collective music critic community? :P

First of all, this chick is hardly gorgeous. Second, this song is just absolutely awful. I'm not trying to hate. The concept of an indie harpist sounded intriguing, but this just a bunch of noise. How can u justify that this is talented music. The sounds like an 8 year old playing the harp sound on a casino whailing in a basement.

I always found something so catchy about this tune.
Dat harpsichord.
Listening to this it's like being in an alternative reality in which Lisa Simpson was real, grew up, and became a songwriter. this is how she'd sound; clever, musical, and endearing.
