I wrote this one. I've been having a rough day. Sorry for the quality :I
. . . . . . . . . .

Selena's glistening mocha orbs widened slightly at the unexpected question. She dug her teeth into her pink, full lips, ambivalent. "Je vais devoir y réfléchir." (I'll have to think about it.) And without another word, she walked away, her flats sweeping across the cobblestone grounds.

. . . . .
. . . . .

The rest of the day dragged on slowly although the workload was heavy as ever. The restaurant was overcrowded with a variety of tourists from all over the world, longing to satisfy their taste buds with Nick's wonderful cuisine—a usual dinner shift. The atmosphere of the restaurant was bustling, trivial conversations and squeals of delight filling the airs. However, the mood of the kitchen was everything but light-hearted. . .

After a long hard day at work, all the workers checked out, exiting the restaurant. Making sure everybody had left, Nick leaned against the door of the dressing room, waiting for Selena to come out. When she came out, he stood up straight and inquired, "Avez-vous décidé?" (Have you decided?)

Selena's eyes were still burnished with ambivalence, a thick cloud of fog looming over her.

"S'il vous plaît..." Nick pleaded in a soft whisper, his eyes swimming with sincerity. Even the thought of rejection made his heart twist and jerk, forming a tight knot in his chest.

Swallowing the throbbing lump in her throat, Selena choked out, her voice quivering, "Of course." As much as she had wanted to refuse, she was afraid that she might lose her job. Grudgingly, she let the soft words sitting on her perched tongue to roll off in a pleasant manner.

"Merci," He breathed out huskily, allowing her soft, milky hands to pour into his. His touch was fragile against hers like it was earlier, grazing against her soft, delicate skin.

"But I'm not even ready...for a date," She contended, playing with the hem of her dress.

"Vous avez l'air magnifique," (You look beautiful.) He said his voice rich and smooth like red velvet cake. The corners of his lips curved up effortlessly into a placid smile, showing his slightly crooked front teeth.

Selena couldn't help but to blush at his words, her naturally rosy cheeks deepening into a scarlet hue that would even shame the red red rose. Her silky long brown hair spilled in front of her pastel face as she trailed behind him, her hand still in his. Lifting her eyes from the ground as she tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear, she suddenly felt her heart skip a beat as the shimmery gleams emitted from the candle lights in the center of the restaurant caught her eye, reflecting off of them. "Oh my God..."

"Un souper pour deux?" (Dinner for two?) Nick asked, his hot breath dancing across the nape of her neck in a slow waltz while he pulled out a chair for her.

"Wow." She blinked, her dark lashes grazing along her lower lids, still in shock at the romantic vignette in front of her. Taking a seat, she inquired an amused smile etched on her face, "You did all this...for me?"

"Is that so hard to believe?" He asked, his eyebrows arching upwards toward his forehead. Carrying the expensive glass of wine in his hands delicately, he let the rich red wine spill into the glass, the small red waves crashing against it.

"Frankly, yes." She bit into her lip once more, her unsure coffee eyes boring into Nick's dark, passionate chocolate marbles. "I just thought..." Her voice diminished along with her thoughts at the end, "Nevermind." She shook her head, brushing off the subject, pressing her lips onto the wineglass about to take a sip.

"Qu'est-ce que c'est?" Nick asked, curious and aching to hear her words—her voice again.

"Je ne pense pas que je valait tout ce mal. . ." (I just didn't think I was worth all this trouble. . .) Selena whispered softly, swirling the wine in the glass. Lowering the glass, she paused as if she was trying to sort out the clutter of words in her mind, selecting her words painstakingly, "I just didn't think I meant much to you. Probably just some whore. . ." She said, painfully, her eyes starting to become misty with her fresh tears. Wiping away at the corners of her tear ducts, Selena sniffled, gulping down her wine. "Je suis désolé. Je ne veux pas me plaindre." (I'm sorry. I don't' mean to complain.) She apologized, unable to lock eyes with Nick.

Watching her shed tears right in front of his face tore his heart into pieces. The guilt began to really seep into his skin, injecting itself into his veins. His heart ached as his eyes captured the essence of Selena—vulnerable and breakable. And she was crying, shedding her heart's tears. . .all because of him.
