Haha, lots of actors do it. One famous example is Hugh Laurie in House. He has an American accent in the show (and some other things he has starred in), but a British accent in real life.

His American accent only slipped once. When he was narrating and talking about dieing he says "idea" like "idear" and that's when i realized he wasn't American. lol
