The 9-hole is a great drill for pushing shooters to figure out how to establish stable firing positions when the rifle can't be aimed naturally. As we always take care to note in our training classes, please keep in mind that we do NOT advocate using a 1/2" thick sheet of plywood for cover. The VTAC barricade is designed to simulate a wide variety of surfaces or shooting ports that might be encountered on the battlefield - from cars to buildings to gaps between a wall or fence. By the time you finish this one, you should be confident in your ability to hit a target as long as the barrel is pointing at it and you can get your sights aligned.

As always, this one is best viewed in HD if you've got the bandwidth to support it.

  • SGM , is there a height over bore issue with the EO tech when it is turned on it's side like that ? I guess what I am asking is how do you compensate for it ?

  • @scdefion The issue is fixed with aiming slightly high to the magazine side at 100 yards, more distance more hold.

  • Only change I would make to this drill is require that the shooter stay behind cover. Increases the difficulty by making them shoot offhanded on the far left holes.

  • @TheAce22716 We do that sometimes, but for the initial drill we want to keep it simple. It is also good to force guys to use support side with your technique.

When they master this, make everyone shoot with one hand.....

  • Great shooting, Kyle!

Question: How much would, lets say: A flashlight mounted on the barrel, decrease your precision? - Not that i would ever do this, just wondering. :)

  • @AlexPetersen1 It would be degrading to your accuracy. This is especially true if you touch the light against anything.

  • the last shot. the bottom left hole should involve a weak side transition instead of sticking your ass out of your cover.
