@Sterndi1 Aimlessly noodling up and down a major scale? Followed by a poorly- executed trill of such unevenness that it would be marked down by the members of any reputable examination panel? If Emerson's name wasn't on the CD sleeve I would defy anyone to come to your conclusion based on hearing this alone. They sound like a mediocre cabaret band. Even Glenn's vocal is poor. I'm amazed (and not a little sad) that those involved allowed this to be released. One for the cutting room floor.. . .
@Sterndi1 Really? Which note would that be then? The whole thing is pretty bland, it could be anyone playing. Both the keyboard programming and sound are dreadful as well. I hear no "style" whatsoever. A mildly interesting oddity at best...
@TheNobleEsromEvets This was the 1st prog rock hit single based around a Bach cantata and selling 2 and a half million copies in the spring of 1967.Keith was obviously paying homage to it.The 1st single ever to be based around a Bach tune was the Toy's "Lovers Concerto"but it wasn't a super huge hit like this song was.
