  • @sf43205 The lower the gas pressure the easier you will get an escape of charge, for example in a piston driven combustion engine (compression of 8:1-12:1) you need a lot more voltage (~30kV/mm) to the spark plug than in free air (at 1bar ~1kV/mm)..

It also depends on the electrode shape; if pointed it takes less to make/catch sparks, if rounded the "breakdown voltage" rises..

    Very roughly speaking ^^

  • its me caponidls by the way ,am simply using another account

  • the humudity and weather is a factor that affects the disruption voltage ,hence the discharge voltage .

this factor is less than or equal to 1 ,and then it is directly proportional with the voltage , so when its 1 (perfect conditions) the voltage is maximum (the highest voltage)

with the humidity presence ,and moisture ,rain ....etc. , the factor is less than 1 ,then the voltage becomes less than before (not required)

and there are also other factor like maintenance and stuff !

  • what is the faverouble preassure and temperature of air for a corona discharge?
