There are 6 major canyons in the "Copper Canyon" system, totaling 750 miles, 3 times longer than the Grand Canyon. There are many thousands of miles of trails, none marked. Just a few Tarahumara Indians (they call themselves Raramuri) live in the canyon. Raramuri means "light foot" and they are probably the world's best long distance runnners, made famous by the best-selling "Born to Run."
