Dame Elizabeth Taylor filmed, "There Must Be a Pony", (made for television), in early 1986 and aired nationally on October 5, 1986. At 54, she was absolutely exquisite and appeared eternally flawless. It was as if no time had passed between "A Place in the Sun" which was filmed nearly forty years earlier. Only Elizabeth Taylor could pull it off. It was hard to believe when watching her in stunning performance in "There Must Be a Pony" (playing an international star staging a comeback; who finds herself embroiled in a scandalous murder vs. suicide) that only a few years prior , she had ballooned to nearly 200 pounds and nearly overdosed on prescription medication, alcohol and food (1983). She had recently survived the end of her marriage to Senator John Warner (1982), and had also survived the death of her beloved Richard Burton (1984). But, as she graces across the small silver screen, she appears timeless and untouched by life's uncertainties. Purchase or rent this highly dramatic film if you get a chance and watch this mistress of cinematography dazzle you, as she has dazzled me.
In viewing these short film clips, please donate to the cause that has become Dame Elizabeth Taylor's life mission for over two decades. The eradication of AIDS in the world. Until such time, "The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation" funds programs and organization that give direct care to the population of millions affected with HIV/AIDS...whether it is direct care or related/ associated services. So many people are now living longer with AIDS/HIV due to advances in viral medication technology, but the impact of living a life with AIDS is far reaching. AIDS affects all of us, in one way or another. Generations of young people are not conscious of the 1980's. The face of AIDS has changed since the time when those who were ill were visibly stigmatized, akin to being lepers. Now, those with HIV/AIDS live life among the general population attempting to cope with the disease. Sometimes, silently. Emotionally, the impact is just the same as those first diagnosed. Fear. The only solution is to rid the world of this disease, therefore opening a technological highway aimed to ignite the remedy to so many other diseases as well.
Any amount of time or money will push this development ahead, never behind.
Thank you, Richard Bassett

  • What a wonderful video!! Elizabeth looks amazing, like not a day has past by. I've never seen this film but it seems very nice. I loved the song you used Richard, do you mind telling me its name?

  • YiotaPam, I think I used "Reflections" by Yanni. Thank you for your kind words.

  • Elizabeth Taylor....says it all. Queen of the silver screen forever. There will never be another like her!

She was best when acting with Richard Burton! That was passion!

  • I couldn't agree with you more. She was the Queen of The Silver Screen....and now has all of those diamonds.

  • Thanks so much for this video - I just purchased the deep purple silk pajamas she wore in this film from the Christie's auction. I'm so excited - I can't wait to get them. She has been a true love of my life since I was 8 years old - I feel like she's an angel in Heaven now. Thanks again for this video and all the others you've made - they're wonderful!

  • She was so beautiful in this TV movie. It's unfortunate that she was no longer in feature films at this point though, she should have been and this is proof.

  • RIP BEAUTIFUL

  • i seen this movie on tv,and liked it,i don't understand why it's not on dvd,i also liked chade lowe in it,and was also wondering who the lady in the hat was, although i knew it wasn't kim novak, kim looked great in 1986

  • I LOVE LIZ

  • she's gone absolutely potty now

  • In this movie, Elizabeth still looks great as ever!

  • @rickylee93274 I looked up the cast of TMBaP and no Kim Novak, but it sure looks like her, doesn't it? They used to play A Date WIth Judy on Afternoon TV and I've seen it, and young Liz was gorgeous and adorable, and like everyone at MGM, she had to sing at least once in a film, and that was the film. She did sing competently, but by the time she got around to A Little Night Music, she had forgotten her lessons. Now I may get some flack for this, but our girl is too thin here.
