This may have been said already but this song was written following an old American TV ad which featured a housewife fawning over her shiny suited hubby with him saying 'my wife's great she cooks, cleans gets the kids off to school etc etc I think I'll keep her!' Mary Chapin Carpenter writes meaningful songs with style, melody and accomplished vocals. Shame it all got wrapped up in the new country thing some of which was excellent some of which was hick rubbish.
@WriterAtHeart21 , I've been a fan of MCC for a few years now. I saw her a couple of times in Scotland (once with the bizzare Lyall Lovett-strange guy) MCC has the knack of writing songs you can relate too. I'd say 'Come on, Come on' was her best album after the superb 'Stones in the Road' Why walk when you can fly uh?
ARTWORK: Some of it was good, but most of it was too perverted. I got better things to do than stare at a woman's butt. SONG: At first I thought it was glorifying a woman who leaves her family. But I took a closer listen to the lyrics near the end, and realized that afterwards the woman finds herself in a dead-end job, and is not any happier. She only exchanged one set of problems for another. That's the thing about country: The story's ending isn't always what yout think it'll be.
Jack Vettriano is a Scottish Artist who is largely ignored by the snooty art establishment because of his populist success. It was revealed that the poses and subject matter of many of his pictures were based on an ancient 'how to dance' manual. Jack still lives in Scotland and sells millions of prints every year, the light in his work is said to reflect the ever changing light of his native land where, as the saying goes- 'if you don't like the weather- just wait 20 minutes!'

I'm just getting into Mary Chapin Carpenter's music and I love it. Her voice is so distinguishable.
