it works with a batery?
bejelmejelbelhelmel 1 year ago
@bejelmejelbelhelmel yes - it will work with a 9 volt battery, a 12 volt battery, two 9 volts in series... and anything similar. A typical 9V will run full power about 30-45 minutes.

Thanks Gem, looking for wards to it (and combining them )...
the only thing i can think of to hold the magnet without too much friction.....would be some kind of blower, have you seen how a ping pong ball can be lofted by placing it over a vacuum cleaner that is blowing?

@rave - Compressed air blowing from underneath, yeah I've seen the pingpong and it's also like those little balls in gas station pumps. Good idea!! I don't have the equipment to try it out (I'm sure a fair amount of pressure would be necessary to lift the mass of these magnets, more than my vacuum/blower). But with the proper construction, that would likely work beautifully.

At frame starting at 0:50; what housing and bearings did you use? I'm looking for a setup similar to this. Thank you for the reply.

The bearings are from my rollerblades, and I understand skateboard wheel bearings are pretty much the same as well.
The housing is a plastic 1/2" coupler from the local plumbing hardware store. It measures 1 & 1/16 inch outer diameter, and 7/8 inch inner diameter (where the bearing fits in). It is 1 & 3/8 inches long. I did have to sand the inner wall a little to get the bearings in.
