The grass that I am mowing is on a steep hillside that joins Alabama Highway 202. It may not look steep but for a while I mowed it up and down until I got use to it. I'm using my 5 foot finishing mower and the throttle is set at 2,300 RPM's, that produces 540 RPM's at the PTO. I run it in 5th gear and at 2,300 RPM's you cruse along at 3.5 MPH. 4 wheel drive is a MUST and you need to wear the seatbelt!

  • @1969slowhand That tractor will be running long after he is retired and his son or daughter is ready to use it. All it takes is proper care of good equipment like this and the family will be happy with it. I purchased my tractor in 2002 and it still only have 71 hours on it. My J.D. Z445 mower has twice as many hours as the tractor and it is much newer. I treat all of them with such tender loving care and keep the equipment maintained each season.

  • I know the state appreciates you mowing the grass along the highway. The tractor looks like one my neighbor has and the mower looks like the brand the John Deere dealership locally sells. I was thinking of getting one of those from them, but instead got the Z445 zero turn mower instead since it would get areas where it would be difficult for the pull behind mower to cut. I have a 790 tractor and love it very much. Nothing runs like a Deere.

  • And Hey, the 90 degree turn showed some stiffness. Don't do it again please. I had that same feeling a week ago and EH it was a warning. Hit the slopes up and down, don't risk it bro. I feel it, but want you to just be careful for you and yours. When you have a device like that............it's all you. I hit my slopes up and down.

  • And hey, I work for PD and EMS. Use your lights. I know, you want to conserve them but it's going to come up in court. God forbid someone hits you, don't leave them any leeway. Turn on your headlights and blinkers when you're on that portion of road.

  • Be careful of those vehicles. Our tractors make us happy but the moron that crashes his or her car into us makes us sad. Nice Vid, I have a NH TC40D with loader and finisher, 6 foot. all tractors are wonderful. It's not what you have but how you use it.

  • Again Very Nice. Good old deer landing on the front.
