Shot on the 6th of May, 2008. I saw her performing at the West exit of Shinjuku station. And then I saw her hours later, at the South exit of the station. She was really diligent, and it was a really windy night. (sorry about the sound quality) This was the last song of her performance. You can check out Yui Ibuki's official website here: http://www.ibukiyui.jp/ Though numerous videos of her are on Youtube too.

I actually think your job is very interesting, but if I am honest, I think I have to agree with this one blog entry where you said that you had to deal with a lot of financial insecurity. So I burried my own dream of making movies, and instead of creating beauty like you obviously do, I decided to enjoy and learn to appreciate beauty. Too bad I haven't been able to enjoy Kingyo T.T

  • @sammythangerules Hell, being a filmmaker is generally regarded as a 'bum' too, haha. As for my producers' cuteness, I will argue that it's totally coincidental!

  • @eswiftfire

Yeah in the West street music is something people think of as "for bums". On a side note: how come your producers are always that cute? This can't be coincidence :p

  • @sammythangerules Thank you for still checking out the blog :D But yes, the passion of musicians like her is definitely commendable. Not just the west, even over in my own country, performing at the streets would've been frowned upon.

  • @eswiftfire

I see where your fascination comes from; it's pretty amazing that she has the courage to do this!

Though I still have to see your film, but I love your blog!

  • @sammythangerules Yes, in fact, some of them performing at the streets are already signed by record labels, just that this is considered one of their ways to hand sell their own CDs, promote their upcoming concerts etc.

For others, it's a way to get discovered. I've always been fascinated by them, as you can see from my previous videos over the past two years. I even worked with a band like this for my short film, KINGYO.

The singer (^^,). It's kind of strange though that Japanese people make music like that in the streets. Here in the West, I have never seen a young girl like her sing in the street.

  • @sammythangerules The video or the singer? :D

  • this is pretty good ^^
