In June 1966 Senator Robert Kennedy made an historic visit to South Africa. It remains the most important visit an American made to South Africa because it took place during the darkest years of Apartheid. The speech he gave at the University of Cape Town on June 6th, 1966, is by far the best known of Senator Kennedy's South African speeches.

  • Yo!! that part at the end was killer!!! Visit Youthforamerica.us let's pick up the torch!!

  • It is so hard for me not to be in love with Robert F. Kennedy. He was so kind and courageous. Just what we need in our leaders. He is just like a little child with innocence and compassion of a good soul. We will always miss him, history will always miss him.

  • Watch this amazing documentary in full on Wednesday 19th October @ 9pm, repeated Sunday 23rd October @ 9pm on The Africa Channel, Sky 268.

  • @mesixpence The government did not want to issue him a visa ... but they realized after a short time that he had a good chance of being the next president of the United States and didn't want to alienate him.

  • After 3:15 is awesome :)

  • I'm surprised they let him in. A great record of a time when there was still some hope for SA. I hate to think how many of the enlightened and hopeful crowds present left SA, or were jailed, and were lost to our land forever. The opportunities missed and squandered!!! Will we ever learn?

  • I'm surprised they let him in.

  • Isn't that the way it was! We needed him so much. I was 14 years old when he was murdered. The entire world grieved, and in so many ways, we STILL mourn him and his brothers.
