We used to go see early punk bands at this now defunct movie theater called the Roxy in in the Pacific Beach neighborhood of San Diego. Once in a while some great bands would be there, stuff like The Tom Robinson Band, Pere Ubu, Patti Smith and Iggy Pop.Gary Wilson and The Blind Dates would open for some of these acts. He usually got booed off or the equipment would get shut off just to stop him. He offended the tastes of many, but what did they expect? It was new and experimental music.

I thought the exact same thing. Both men are weird geniuses that really are mega talented. It's a shame they both didn't get the recognition they deserved...But in some ways it's better as it means the music they play is pure and devoid of commercialism, plus I love being a know-it-all music fan who knows artists that the mainstream could not have even dreamed existed. It makes all us guys who appreciate, that bit more special.
