@sasprawler Jasper may be a couple of hours further away from Edmonton than Banff is from Calgary, but the swarms of tourists and commercialization has ruined Banff. While you are pushing, shoving and elbowing massive crowds of tourists, I'm enjoying a mountain view instead of heads, camera and backpacks with no one bugging me. In addition, while many Calgarians are still struggling in the aftermath of the recession, I'm enjoying my new computer with a better job in a better economy.

@sasprawler I wouldn't say Calgary is better than Edmonton and both cities have advantages and disadvantages. Despite various world city surveys, Edmonton created over 60, 000 jobs this year alone which is far more than Calgary. We also lost less jobs than Calgary during the recession. You may have the Stampede, but we have the World Indy, Capital Ex, Heritage Days, The Folk Fest and Fringe, far more festivals. So what if the mountains are an hour away from Calgary, we have Jasper.

@Davemeister22 Edmonton is no comparison to Calgary. Calgary was named the 5th most liveable city in the world in 2011, Calgary's been named the cleanest city in the world several times, Edmonton downtown is nothing compared to Calgary's, we have the greatest outdoor show on earth and we have the rocky mountains only 1.5 hours away.Even when William and Kate did their tour of Canada they chose to come to Calgary instead of Edmonton. And we're the Heart of the New West.
