Cityrail Challenge - 176 stations in 1 day

On Friday 22 July 2011, I took the Cityrail Challenge. These were the rules:

1. You must get to all 176 stations on Cityrail's suburban network per the map on their timetable booklets (bound by Waterfall, Macarthur, Emu Plains and Berrowra).
2. All travel must be by train.
3. The trains must stop at every station at least once.
4. You may leave a station for a break, so long as you return to the same station before continuing.
5. The challenge must be completed within 24 hours.

Starting at Bondi Junction at 4:57AM and finishing at Eastwood at 12:24AM, the challenge was completed in under 19 hours. This despite heavy rain causing network wide disruptions and resulting in over 2 hours of delays compared to the original schedule.
