I did some calculations based on two YouTube videos.

  • More on the hole. I rode passed it, and thought it odd enough to stop, turn around and look. It was too symmetrical. The sides went straight down like a post hole, and the debris around was too symmetrical to be piled up by an animal. My first thought was unexploded ordinance and then meteorite...very unlikely. I thought about it enough to do a computer search for sightings. That was a well documented sighting only a year earlier. Who knows? Check the salt flats and good luck!

  • Riding a motorcycle 8/2010, I nearly hit a big badger hole near Bonneville. There were no other animal holes in the salt and it looked suspiciously like a neatly punched impact crater. I checked for news and found the 11/18/9 sighting. Okay, It would require serious digging so I decided to go back with my science teacher friend, and a shovel to follow my lone tracks right to the spot. Alas, speed week and a thousand other tracks later, no luck. We looked for hours and even searched by aircraft.

  • It looks like you calculated where the meteor was in the sky rather than it's trajectory. In order to accurately determine it's position, you need to synch the videos up perfectly so you triangulate the position at that specific moment. Otherwise you'll get the intersection of two angles that is nowhere near where it actually was. If you really want to figure out where it landed, you could determine the location at two moments in time and get a rough trajectory.

  • your calculations look good but i think you maybe a little off on the location in dugway i think its a little more sounth east of the spot your thinking from watching your video and my own expertise i think south east from your red circle on google earth is where the meteor hit and from what i understand from others is that location does have top secret experiments and out of all the places in the world why a top secret military base? out of all places to hit it hit there makes you wonder

  • maybe it was a landing or directed crash of top secret satellite or vehicle . ?

  • Umm... It landed where the military test there weapons. I don't think he's going.

  • This is exactly the geeky kind of stuff that I'm into, well done!

  • I quite agree with you. To bad I didn't get to see it here in California.

  • I like your logic

  • Good work
