  • Ghastly and an insult in bloody english. I adore Jussi Björling. Here he pandered to the demands of the time and the ignorant, uncultured & unsophisticated Americans. Mssr. Gounod must have turned in his grave.

  • Sorry Jussi, huge fan,but Jessye Norman just blows all tenors out of the water with this one.

  • Beautiful.

  • CHARLES GOUNOD VERSION

    Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus

    Dominus Deus Sabaoth

Pleni sunt coeli et terra gloria tua

    Hosanna in excelsis

    Holy, Holy, Holy

    Lord God of Hosts

Heaven and Earth are Full of Your Glory

    Hosanna in the Highest!

  • This was the first performance on his North American tour that year with Iturbi conducting. I don't know the music so I would not hear any error mentioned. All I hear is a great voice and also I have never heard this sung by Bjorling before and have a pretty big Jussi collection, so it must be rather rare. So much of his live work is available largely through the JBS group but strange that only one of his greatest roles was Boheme and only one Show is available. Met. 1948 with Sayo

  • Great Jussi, bravo!

  • When I feel a little bit 'down', I listen to this. It is so beautiful. It doesn't matter that the sound is not perfect, it is the expression soul of all singers and of the orchestra.

  • @Marcooljerk I'm one of his beiggest fans and felt he did even worse 158 throu 210 by losing the tune and timing of this beautiful song but recovered. This is surely not his best! Listen to the backup choir for some of them are also saying "heaven dand earth". See! We didn't "jump you". If he is not "liquored up" and singing you'll become a fan as well. One of the greatest tenors (my opinion).

  • @Gary2837 LOL, not to nit pick, but is he's also saying "heaven dand earth"? I'know I'm gonna hear it from his big fans now...
