Narrator:
A soldier waits for the signal. He scans his field of view and anticipates...
Focused. Alert. Lethal.
Advanced technologies are changing the face of future warfare, helping our soldiers to see more, hear more and react more quickly, giving them an edge. The Canadian Army is moving toward a knowledge-based, medium weight force designed to prevail on the battlefield by replacing sheer mass with leading edge situational awareness, speed and combat power. To do this, the Army is changing the way it generates forces, changing the way it trains and changing the way it fights.
Caption: Multi-Mission Effects Vehicle (MMEV)
Battlefield situations require and will continue to require coalition communications and interoperability. One of the most technologically advanced collaborations involves the Canadian Multi-Mission Effects Vehicle Technology Demonstration Project, known as M-M-E-V TDP, and the American Crew Integration and Automation Test-bed. This project involves Defence R&D Canada, DRDC, and the US Tank-Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center, TARDEC.
M-M-E-V TDP is a DRDC technology demonstration project with an Army focus. The M-M-E-V TDP features a single vehicle crew capable of using direct and indirect fire and air defence weapons concurrently. The future battlefield will have extensive information available at all levels. Network-centric command and control, multi-role munitions, multi role platforms, robotics and sensors will provide instantaneous awareness. The concept is being examined in three networked simulation experiments that feature Canadian and American vehicle crews in a future combat situation, operating their own and each other's equipment.
Working within a future net-centric simulation environment, the M-M-E-V TDP is able to remotely identify and engage targets using information from both Canadian and US Army air and ground vehicles. During experiments, crews using TARDEC's Crew Integration and Automation Test-bed and DRDC's M-M-E-V TDP cooperatively engage and destroy targets while coordinating motion with one another. The M-M-E-V TDP project is exploring a family of advanced vehicle technologies with futuristic performance characteristics.
This will enable the evaluation of: * command and control, * technology performance, * multi-mission capability, * human performance, and * interoperability with US forces.
This concept offers a significant gain in military capability, with enormous promise for enhancing combat effectiveness and reducing crew size. Canada and her principal ally the United States will continue to conduct joint research and training experiments. The knowledge gained through M-M-E-V TDP will advance efforts to improve Army interoperability, assess the merits of future Canadian and American technologies and maximize the research and development investments of both countries.
DRDC explores creative and innovative technologies for the Canadian Forces. The MMEV TDP project looks to other DRDC projects for additional research in the areas of synthetic environments and human factors. Research into advanced armoured vehicle technologies and other defensive aides, like those explored in DRDC's Future Armoured Vehicle Systems project will ultimately contribute to the MMEV TDP. Projects like the M-M-E-V TDP help to push the technology and generate new ideas that pay big dividends to Canada's military and to our economy. DRDC's commitment to provide the best in defence R&D will continue to ensure that the Canadian Forces remain technologically prepared and operationally relevant well into the future.
Weren't going to replace it

@Redfox161616 but nested we got a goverment that cares about are military and they bout 120 brand new tanks one thing I wish they didn't cancel on that project was TUA they phased it put on the M113 and were going to put them on the LAV but when they canceled the MGS they canceled all of that so now we have no TUA
TheCFarmy 8 months ago
@Redfox161616 well your right but they were going to replace the ADATS because it's one of the best sytems out there they were just going to move it ok to a LAV platform another thing at that time is they were also going to shrink the numbers (liberals at the time) we have 34 units of ADATS in service they were going to shrink that to 16 just like MGS they were only going to buy 66 to replace at the time are 66 C2 tanks

@TheCFarmy yes and no I think it is good it was canceled because tanks are the bully of the battlefield and the Leo 2 is a great tank, but I am sad because we will not have a strong fast new Sam system to replace the ADATS of course this would have only been a partial replacement for ADATS but I think this vehicle should have focused more on the SKY than the ground.

Thank god that shit was canceled you can not replace a tank with a lightly armored vehicle we canceled that and got new tanks 80 leaped 2A4 and 40 2A6 M CAN now 20 of those are being ingraded to 2A4 M CAN and another 40 will also be upgraded to that and the other 20 will be converted to new engineer vechles so that will leave us with 100 battle ready tanks and we bought am extra 15 for parts for quick repairs in the field that's more then were gonna get with that only 66 they wanted

@TheColt451911 your right, most of the equipment canada uses is modified versions of american weapons built by mostly european countrys

@xGotGutsx We desinged it in the 1957, CAnada in 1982. I would definaty hope it would be more reliable. Who cares who desinged it anyways, The US is replacing it by a gun that is by far more reliable and is a part of the FFW ( future force worrior )
and will be used with the land warrior system. I guarante you that the FFW will be used by Canadians.
