Murmur & Reckoning is the real R.E.M.

  • @CanadianChronic2121 Ah bite me, I'm not pretending. I DO like every album they've released, in one way or another. I'd agree the last few albums are not as good as earlier ones but that doesn't mean I think they're bad or boring just cos you do. For example Reveal is a mood thing but I like its breezy charm, Around the Sun was a bit one-dimensional but still had some great songs, like the Outsiders/Electon Blue/High Speed Train. We shall have to agree to disagree.

Oh well , I'm not gonna pretend to like EVERYTHING they've put out , just because their one of my favorite bands ... Their recent albums are just fucking boring .

  • @CanadianChronic2121 Can't & never will agree with that. They definitely lost some bite when Bill Berry left, I'll give you that, but they've never made an album without intrigue for me. But, I'm 35 years old & I've been a fan of REM for 27 so you picked the wrong person to reply to with that

  • @gigoer

Collapse Into is a fucking piece of junk ........ But then again ... so were their last 6 albums ....

  • The saddest phrase in Wikipedia is "R.E.M. was an American rock band from Athens..."

  • After I've heard the album for first time, I thought that it's so-so. Now, after nearly a year, I think it's nearly a masterpiece. Brilliant album to say goodbye - there's everything you want from REM: quite few rockers which really rocks, number of moody ballads which really touch you, and experimental "Blue" at the end. It's diverse and coherent at the same time. One of my REM's top 5, although there's big competition!

  • @SuperMJH1 12-16-11 :O" DITTO!" Sad to hear they chose to break up back in 2008. Just saw MICHAEL STIPE on a Re-run of 'Jimmy Fallon Latenight' on NBC. Jimmy stated the CD ["will be out in Nov. 24, 2011"] Thanksgiving. WELL...The Beatles didn't even last this long. And I love The Beatles & R.E.M.

Wish them all the best in whatever they will do in their futures. I'm Sad! :'-( Thankyou REM for all the Great songs & Concerts. I will miss you as a band. PEACE!

  • Collapse Into Now was not their greatest album but REM were the greatest band ever

  • Stipe looks really cool with a beard
