Asian Arts Center Director Jason Sun gives expert tips about Jade - with hosts Jiayu Jeng and Jaron Lin - in Mandarin - Part 2 of 3 - originally broadcast July 4, 2008.
As for the color / design, real jade has its swirls going from in middle outwards, while fake jade's swirls is more on the surface going inwards. Finally, treated fake jade is lighter than authentic jade. Hopefully that's somewhat helpful to non-Mandarin speakers watching this video.
There's too much to translate, but he basically said that even jadeite experts who have been studying jade for years, it is still difficult for them to be 100% certain a piece is authentic and natural. He said that there's a certain temperature when you touch it. It has to be cold to the touch to be real jade. The crisper the sound when clanked is another sign it's real. If it's fake with additives in the middle, then the center is calmer and produces less of a crisp clanking sound.
i dont speak chinese, but from what i can make out, hes saying about the temperature, jade is very cool to touch & takes a while to warm in your hand. then he talks about the pitch; jade has a bell like chime. the fake one has a bit of a dead ring to it. then the weight, jade is dense & very heavy.
jade also has 'flowering' when you hold it up to the light, like the cloudy appearance of minerals & a transparency. you can also see into it a little. glass fakes tend to have bubbles inside them.

I liked, but I really think China should be nicer and braodcast the information about jade for many people, in other laguages like English too.
