I took The Purchase Brothers short of Escape From City 17, and scored my own original music over it. It is out of appreciation for their hard work on shooting the film, and I felt that the short was lacking musical composition over the action sequences. Feel free to check it out, and let me know what you think! I cannot take credit for being apart of the project, I did this on my own time, and have since sent it to them, as an audition to work with them on future projects. You can check out my music at: http://www.rcpetersmusic.com and please check out the Purchase Brothers at: http://www.purchasebrothers.com

  • Wow! I can't believe all the positive and constructive criticism. Thank you all! Unfortunately the Purchase Brothers have stated that the wish to not work with me . I am just happy that I was able to do this, and hopefully down the road you will see my music involved in other amazing science fiction projects. Once again, thank you so much to every person who took the time to listen to my musical composition, I am very, very grateful

  • Wow! Thank you all for taking the time to view this and leave such positive feed back, you all rule in my book! when i first played HL2 on my PC, I remember how engrossing and cinematic the music was. Well The Purchase Brothers gave it a very accurate look, I just tried to duplicate the authenticity of keeping it feeling like a Half Life experience. I just hope to work with them for real! Thanks again to all of you!

  • I think the problem is that your soundtrack isn't "dark" or "half life" enough. Listen to the original half life soundtrack. Listen to tracks like "Drums and Riffs" and "Dimenious Deepness" Those are soundtracks that made half life what it is. Even still I think that City 17 still lacks "darkness" so to speak, and I think you should make a new video and have a track inspired by the original half life soundtrack. Then maybe you will have the purchase brothers attention. Great soundtrack though.

  • I'm suprised they didn't decide to work with you. You do a really great job making OST ( Original Soundtrack ). The only suggestion is that the music should be quieter during talking parts, and the music should be less electronica, you know? I think it should be more... James Bond type. Listen to Quantom of Solice OST and you'll know what I'm talking about. Try to make it more like that. But it's still great.

    Thanks,

  • I liked it all besides the very end. That was completely unnecessary. I still think it was better originally anyway. The ambience and sound effects in the background work on their own.

  • i like it, the kinda techno beat at the end i didnt think fit tho.

  • Hes not a combine hes a metrocop and yea the cops cuss sometimes I mean you would to if you turned a corner and a guy was about to shoot you with an SMG

  • 3:59 , am I the only one who thinks the combine sounds like he went Oh F, then of course the ringing came in.

  • Very atmospheric job, keep it up)

  • You definitely have great potential in my opinion but I don't think you should have used this video which was already perfected without the music. Subtle underlying tones may have worked better. And I think half life needs a more grimy feel to the music... Kelly Bailey got it down perfect in the game and the music during the preview of part 2 at the end of the full video is just awesome and so fitting. Good job though :)

  • nothing wrong with your music but I enjoy this more with out the music composition... Feels more real with out the music.

  • I liked the original version better. Had a different feel to it.
