I heard Kent Hovind was very popular inside bcoz of his gag reflex, the other inmates seemed to enjoy his throat constricting for some reason...

Yes, originally the Valley of Hinnom was a physical place, but the myths still arose from it before Christianity. It is mentioned in the OT in 2 Chronicles. This morphed to mythology of a place below the Earth's Surface like heaven was "up above".

As I said, it has evolved over time, but it was adapted by Christianity from a much older concept inherent to the faith its based on. The concept of Hell and punishment rather than purification came from outside and was adopted much later.

can you point to where it is mentioned, remember that Gehenna is NOT purgatory in the spiritual sense originally as far as I know, but a reference to a place locally that they burned bodies of criminals, it was seen as a cursed place.

So the reference needs to describe a spiritual aspect not just a location of burning or place for criminals or sinners.

I would be interested in finding out that was the case, of course the torah is older, I never denied that. I thought you may have mixed up the 2

Kent Hovind was released yesterday - he got compassionate leave because a fellow inmate swallowed his penis. Anyway, his new theory of Disingenuously Unencumbered Mirrored Biodiversified Anti-Sporacious Spindles proves that everyone who speaks the truth about god's non-existence is wrong because his theory must be correct because it says so in the book he wrote: "The Wonder And Truth".

No, I wasn't speaking of the Talmud. The concept of purgatory is mentioned in the Torah as I said. This is certainly older than Christianity.

Yes, but that isn't what I said. The Torah is older.

That developed from Gehenna and simply means Valley of Hinnom. Its where they burned bodies, in a place believed to be cursed and the destinations of evil (or for practical reasons, poor) people. You may be mixing up the Talmud and other later sources, far younger than early christianity. They converted Gehenna into a more spiritual destination by that stage.

Oh, to answer your final sentence:

I mean Hell was added to Christianity after Christianity was established. Purgatory was spoken of in the Torah.
