Isn't the internet a great place? It really lets you know who's worth your time and who isn't. Someone makes a political, policy position known and to rebut it people (who really need to rethink the way that they handle themselves) resort to bigotry and threats of violence. Because if there were a way to convince me that Rachel Maddow, Rhodes scholar, haver of own television show, and sayer of well-articulated insights, is wrong in this instance, it is to call her a dyke, cunt, or *insert slur*.

The government should take the money they're using to support the oil industry and put it into green technologies like wind and solar. Give the oil workers free training in wind and solar technology so they still have jobs. Keep using oil until everything is switched over to to wind and solar, but once the switch is made, stop supporting oil. Tell the dealers (BP et al) to take a hike.

Saying things like "realistically, we need oil" is just a cop out. It's an excuse. We need to take action now.

MSNBC is my channel... but has anyone noticed that since Rachel gave this speech and then the next day was invited to the White House for lunch along w/Eugene Robinson, a guy fm WSJ. Ever since there has been no hard hitting reporting on the Gulf, even on CNN. Ari Belcher was really good too. Keith had John Washen on w/the aerial video showing oil 23 - 90 miles out, a breached sperm oil, dying, 2 schools of dying, trying to breathe. Any critique has been at BP only. It's very quiet.
