Dr. David Schmale is using autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs - or radio controlled model airplanes) to monitor the movement of high risk plant pathogens hundreds of meters above the surface of the earth.

  • @davepamn ... what is typical during research phase. it i smore robust and faster to make multiple T/O and landings like that.

    But I agree those guys probably didn't tuned their platform enough for full auto.

  • Autonomous means the plane can launch and land by itself. It seemed like the craft was only partial autonomous requiring human interaction for departure and arrival

  • It must be nice to be smart. Keep up the good work guys.
