It must be impossible to evaluate the significance of these sounds if you weren't there. How would I know? I was there. The impeccable Shadows from a time when the musicians had to get it right. Many thanks for this great tune.
Abbotsfordjohn, you are correct about the digital sound. It has NEVER replicated the true echo/reverb sounds. Remember when the music CD's came along & everyone was singing the praises about it being so superior to the old records? There is a growing populace out there that no longer believe this to be true. Records slowly, but surely, are making a comeback. There are some bands out there now, particularly in the jazz field, that are releasing much of their new material on records.
im 24 now and i would play the guitar in my teens. These 'numbers', tunes nowadays (who knows anyway these days), bring me a sense of solace in its innocence and purity. Love the golden oldies, mgm's golden years.
First heard these wonderful Shadows numbers back in 1961 when I was a young teen. Hank B. Marvin and a sunburst Fender Stratocaster.....what a recipe for success. But with all this digital nonsense, they have never managed to truly replicate the echo effects heard on My Resistance and Sleepwalk. Those old echo machines are unbeatable in my view. What does everybody else think about that ??
