Chief Green Officer vlog post for August 20th - Yeves Perez takes a moment to address the recent comments made by Sprint Nextel CEO, Dan Hesse.

On August 19, 2009, Dan Hesse's article "A Greener View of Corporate Eco-nomics" made some very powerful and memorable statements, including "Past historical eras have produced major shifts within our country. This new era is shifting our nation to appreciate and demand environmental responsibility. Todays corporations can either embrace this new era or risk being left behind."

Perez also addresses one Chief Sustainability Officer that is paid to keep AT&T from falling behind and lead the way to make major investments in green technology.

This is one of the largest major investments led by any Chief Sustainability Officer. Corporate responsibility and sustainability doesnt evaporate in a down economy, and in fact are more critical because the countys challenges are greater, said AT&T Senior Vice-President of Public Affairs and Chief Sustainability Officer Charlene Lake. We are committed to exploring the specific ways in which societys needs intersect with our company, and while we have made significant progress, we recognize the need for continual improvement.

Perez will also point out a significant new toys for CGO's and CSO's by Clear Standards, which was acquired by SAP this year. On the SAP website dated May 11, 2009 - the deal was part of company's ongoing strategic commitment to improve its own sustainability performance and deliver superior sustainability solutions to customers. In the release, SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) announced its intent to acquire Clear Standards, Inc. A privately held innovator of enterprise carbon management solutions, Clear Standards helps organizations accurately measure, optimize and report greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and other environmental impacts across internal operations. With this move, SAP expects to accelerate its ability to meet the carbon management requirements of organizations in this time of increasingly stringent government regulations and expectations for better transparency by the public.
