@fojeba It all starts with the recording chain. That means you need good musicians, who know their instruments (tuning,playing, etc.), professional mics and the know-how to use them, a good recording room in terms of acoustics, high quality cables from the mics to the preamps to the converters (really important), high-end preamps and converters. If you got this together you will have almost the perfect sound. After that the rest (mixing,mastering etc.) is not so a big deal.

@fojeba Making a fat sound is a very wide term. And I guess there is no answer to that.
But the mastering is also a important part of that.
Fat sound might also be a matter of eq.
Do you have waves plugins ? The C4 and L2 are very efficient tools. Try the L2 on your Mastering Bus.
See how far you can go with your plugins you allready own. If you dont have the L2 use the Maxim from Digidesign. (I use Protools)

Hi , i' ve rented avalon 737 hoping to get my sound fatter .The quality of my sound is much better but still very light compare to professional production. Can you please let me know what is critical to get a really fat sound.I always make sure i get the maximum recording volume but still no luck
