Sunday Kitchen #63 Roasting Coffee

I love coffee and I've always wanted to see how it's roasted. So I decided to email Oso Negro to ask if we could come and film them roasting ... and they said yes!
Oso Negro is pretty famous for their good coffee - we'd heard about it before we even went to Nelson. I love their coffee and their café too - good service and a nice atmosphere. Also, the people at the roastery were so nice! Thank you for letting us come and film - we really enjoyed it.
And any coffee lovers that are heading to Nelson - go to Oso Negro. It gets five stars from me.

  • Oso Negro, the best place in Nelson and probably even BC for an absolutely undrinkable overroasted, underextracted coffee. Completely oblivious and untrained staff with no standard of quality make this cafe/roaster a MUST VISIT if you have a hankering to discover just how bad you can make espresso taste from a $16,000 La Marzocco GB/5 machine. Oso Negro gets an unparalled 5/5 Moldy Jute Bags.

  • Really? The coffee I drank there was delicious.

  • Next go to a brewery. :)

  • Yes, definately! I tried to go to the one in Nelson, but they didn't reply to my emails and phone messages. Maybe here in Wolfville.

  • Personal Best Converted From Decimal To A Fraction is 56/1

  • Oso Negro (that's neh-groh, not nee-grow) means "Black Bear". I've never been to a place that actually roasts their own beans before! I bet the coffee tastes great.

  • I congratulate tdes on their use of technology in education. Years ago Mark Edwards told of the difficulty Japanese beginners had in describing how to make a cup of tea. This is way beyond that.

  • This is like a "do it yourself video"! However, I doubt anyone will :p I love coffee, but just to smell :o
