ATTITUDES: (Dano & Kelly) Adrien Arpel & Phyllis Hyman Pt. 1

"ATTITUDES": Starring Linda Dano & Dee Kelly. 1989. In many ways, "Attitudes", a woman's talk show that aired on LIFETIME in the late 80s/early 90s, was a precursor to "The View".

Here is part 1 of an episode with guest Adrien Arpel and later Phyllis Hyman.

This episode of "Attitudes" is not complete. The interviews with both ladies are intact however. I wasn't going to post this episode since it was incomplete but this very morning I had a dream about one of Phyllis Hyman's interviews and felt she was urging me to post this from the great beyond. Anyone who knows of Phyllis Hyman must realize that she was a very strong presence and wouldn't dare to "disobey" a prompting from her even if she is no longer with us mortally.

I hope fans of both "Attitudes" and Phyllis will appreciate this lost interview. It was here that I got introduced to Phyllis and was captivated by her charisma and what appeared to be her inner strength and peace. Her energy was so infectious and from then I tracked down her music. Sadly, she would only have 5 more years left on the planet with only two more albums to release ("Prime of My Life", an ironic title, in 1991 and, at the time of her death, "I Refuse to Be Lonely" in 1995). Of course, there have been various releases of unreleased material by the record companies that are hoping to capitalize on her passing with a plethora of "tribute" albums. Where were these albums when she was alive?

In any case, enjoy the interview and those of you just learning who Phyllis is, congratulations. Here was a truly sophisticated lady!

Adrien has talked a lot about her cosmetic surgery and said plainly she'd do it as long as she COULD do it and "it didn't hurt too much." She does look younger now then she 20 years ago, and the features are softer. But the face is not dramatically different. She is a businesswoman who must physically represent her business. She is very bright and very savvy and has been married to one man all her life and is a very family person.

I love hearing that Adrien hasn't had a plastic surgery.....you need to own up and not be ashamed by having some help. Because you dont go from being 48 in 1989 to now being 69 or 70 and looking younger then you do in this video....it isn't your Signature A.....not even a chance!

"It doesn't even occur to me -- age..what difference does chronological age make???" -- REEEALLY? *DOH!* Um....... uhhhhhhh..... enough of a difference that Adrien Arpel looks TOTALLY different from 20 years ago. Everything on her face has swollen-up -- lips, cheekbones, etc. And very little moves (on her face) today when she speaks. She IS "whip smart."

Hey, for those of you who watch HSN, um... anyone notice how weird Tony Little's face has gotten, especially around the eyes and nose?

Adrian Arpel (the business persona of Adrien Yoachim Newman) is indeed a whip smart lady who already had a vision of her career while in high school. She got started immediately on success and has lived a fabulous international life. I think at the heart of her success is her intelligence, her independence, her honesty and an utter lack of superficiality. What you see and hear is what you get. Yes, she obviously has had cosmetic surgery through the years, but always sensible and moderate.
