Just a quick video on my very initial experiences and thoughts on the ElementCase Vapor for the iPhone 4. Drool-worthy looks, but in my opinion, that alone won't get it a good recommendation, sadly...

  • does the cable that came with the iphone 4 fit in the damn thing?! lol

  • @SCR1V5CCFC Yes, so far that is the only cable I have that will fit. Cables from the iPhone 3GS and my 4th gen iPod Nano do not fit.

  • So i'm having some odd experiences this morning with my phone with the ElementCase Vapor on the phone. I dropped a call 5 times within 3 minutes in the exact same location I make a call on a daily basis...I've never dropped that call before. When I'm in my lab here at work, I usually have 1-2 bars of 3G service. Today, I've got next to nothing. I have to turn it onto EDGE only to get a bar, but even then it won't connect to Echofon or my Gmail, or to gReader (Newsrack). :(

  • @martinj001 As a follow-up to this, I have my iFrogz Luxe case back on it today while here at work. I am noticing that the data seems to be a bit slower, but as of yet I have not dropped a call or seen the phone drop signal completely as I did yesterday. I am on a college campus and students are returning, so that could be part of the issue. That being said, I do think the case itself may have played a role in my issues yesterday.

I've heard about reception problems and slow downloads with the Vapor case. I know you've only had it s short time but besides the above problem how has the reception been for you?

  • @cam3677 Only had the case one day that I used it. Put my iFrogz Luxe Lean case back on the next day. While data has been slower overall at my office lately (I attribute this to being on a college campus--Emory University-- and students coming back), I do feel like the Vapor had a negative impact on the phones reception. I ended up returning it to ElementCase. Love the looks and really wanted to like it, but it wasn't cutting it... :(

  • @jaimejerezano1 As some of my comments on this video state earlier, I work in an area where 3G signal is on the low end, and with this case on, it did seem to have a negative effect on the phone's ability to do its thing. That being said, my Dad has one of these cases (he's in Seattle, WA--mostly very strong signal in the areas he's in) and he is quite happy with the case. Personally, I feel the case has too many issues for me to be shelling out almost $100 for it. Still love the looks tho.

  • Thanks for the review, and hands-on vid with accessories.. I saw this case a long time ago, and have always wanted to get it; even before I got my iPhone 4, but now with all the problems this thing has, You just saved me $100 :D

  • nice review martin, that made up my mind for me.

thanks for doing the leg work.

  • thanks for your review. glad to finally see the color yellow and to actually see what size earphone jack it can fit. lay on table is almost to none too. hope they make the earphone slot bigger when it's my turn to order or else i'll just cancel it.
