I close the top end by hand stitching and then secure the flag at the top of the pole and then half way down with a thumb tack. The bottom end I secure with a generous dab from an ordinary glue stick which I get from a stationers. Barring the hand finishing, it takes about 2 minutes flat!

thanks for the video. I'm thinking that the diluted all purpose glue may not keep the flag on the pole for too long, with vigorous use. Would you suggest reapplying the glue solution after a few uses, or maybe even stapling the flag to the rod in addition to the glue help to keep the flag intact? I have never made a flag from scratch only embellished finished ones. I don't want them to come apart while being used. Thanks for your help, just nervous.

How do you finish the edges of the cloth so it doesn't fray? What did you put on the end of the dowel to make it look finished?
