Sorry, but I guess that you have never worked or lived close to animals before. Animals do indeed mourn the loss of a companion - they even go as far as dying from the emotional pain that the loss causes them. I have seen it happen with my own eyes. Of course, they do not cry like humans when they hear a sad story, but they display strong emotions when they witness another animal suffering. Do not underestimate animals just because you do not understand their language!
