In all due respect this is a decent accomplishment but the whole thrill is supposed to be that that stunt is death-defying and if you mess up, you fall in so being connected to the thick wire really seems to take all of the amazement out of it, making the stunt a mere curiosity instead of a thrill for the viewer. The guy who crossed the twin towers (more than once) in 1976 didn't use anything and that's what made it truly thrilling.

Whether or not he wanted to wear one, the fact remains he did. The walk he has got coming up in a few weeks over the chasm he will be doing without one.

If he succeeds there he will be in the same ball park as the great Philippe Peitte. The WTC walk of 1974 will probably never be bettered.

For the record, Nik didn't want to wear a tether and was told last minute that if he didn't wear one, his walk wouldn't be aired. He says that the tether actually made him more nervous because he'd never walked with one before.

Officials made him wear them he was going to do it without a safety harness but the rope was standardized for that far of a walk he said it in an interview.

that' what i always find odd. Everyone refers to these stunts as though there is no safety wire. I don't get it really, like you too.All the respect for doing it though coz i could never even step onto the wire....lol.
