omg...and i thought this song was so pretty. the singing is the best ive been able to find. and the interpretation is like WTF. not dissing it. Edgar allen poe would dig this kinda shit. it kept me interested.

As much as i love the singing, the menacing character of the sailors towards the girl just makes my skin crawl.

...... i agree with you... the singing is good and the song is Sondheim great. But, this interpretation leaves terrible aftertaste... yikes...

i prefer the other interpretation where the sailors don't touch her at all and the assault is implied, and where the sailors sing to her almost delicately, instead of menacingly.
