United Nations, New York, April 2009 - One of the oldest nations in the world, Ethiopia struggles with steep social inequality. The majority of its population has difficult access to basic social services, and many women risk their lives by giving birth at home. The UN Population Fund is supporting a government programme to improve maternal health and provide contraceptives to women in need.

  • Very sad.. but i don't get why they don't get the oxycontin donation instead of contraceptions, and also the root cause child marriage must be banned.

  • Yup. I totally agree with you. Natural process is the best way to have children. And if they don't make it this way - they're not healthy.

  • I live in the us and my mom had 8 kids 5 of which were born at home with out midwife. I'm sure they would have been more cautious if good ambulance service wasn't available if needed, but seriously this is something that we have been doing since before we were human.
