  • 8:05 in 1827 railroading began as mining as the next segments show the Iron Horse evolved and railroading left the mine and became the standard to today's railroads.

  • @Lightwolf333 LOL that's Bailey Yard for you

  • @geomodelrailroader These guys know how to demonstrate how to "Pimp it Up on the Railroad"... lol

  • @geomodelrailroader Indeed!

  • @Lightwolf333 LOL except Bailey Yard is the biggest it has to be because of all the trains that service this yard.

  • @geomodelrailroader Yup. They do that same thing at all classification yards such Hinkle and Roseville yard and among others as well. Pretty much common practice on class one railroads like the UP and CSX.

Pretty cool how they do that. Unit trains like stack train and coal are just Point to Point and do not need switched out. Still is really cool how they process these train in these yards.

  • 4:39 unit freight is anything shipped in bulk from containers, coal, grain, potash, trash (including contaminated soil and nuclear waste), vehicles, mail, trailers, and yes the Fruit Express itself are all unit freight and use the Bailey Yard pit tracks to get refueled before they head to their final stop.

  • @Lightwolf333 LOL the only way to see Bailey Yard is on top of the Golden Spike Tower you might need to bring binoculars because Bailey Yard is big.
