The St. Charles Museum and Historical Association invites you to reflect on a page from our past. The city of Taft was named after lumber baron Charles Taft, brother of President William Howard Taft, who operated a lumber mill on our German Coast. Our Lady of Holy Rosary Church was established in 1886 in Taft, but only the cemetery remains today. Throughout St. Charles Parish there are historical places, just like this one, that hold a prominent place in our history. To learn more about this and other historical sites, The St. Charles Museum and Historical Association proudly invites you to turn the pages of our past in their new book. 'St. Charles Parish Louisiana, A Pictorial History' is available exclusively through the association book signing events.
