Playing along to "Starla" by the Smashing Pumpkins from their 1994 album Pisces Iscariot. It's also available on the "I Am One" single.

I think this is kind of a special song for many old school pumpkins fans. To me, it just has that "it" that is so difficult to pinpoint. Plus, it's a fun song play aswell. :-)

  • 1:29 to 1:40, what chord are you playing?

Could anyone tell me please, it's been driving me nuts...

    Thanks in advance

  • @LeoMrmPT it's a D major chord with an added 9th, in this case, the high e string. the chord goes as follows. open D string, 11th fret on the G string, 10th fret on the B string and the open high e string ringing. the pull off's are from the 12th to 10 fret on the B string and then you add the 12th fret on the high e. last bar is a Dsus4 variation, same as the fore mentioned D major only you raise the 11th on the G string to the 12th fret adding the sus4 note. hope that helps :-)

  • @onkel44lekno Thanks! That was exactly what I was looking for, couldn't find it anywhere. Starla has been one of my favourite songs from SP for a long time but I never thought of learning how to play it... that is, untill I saw your cover, you really nailed it. Thanks a lot for the answer and for the awesome cover : )

  • @LeoMrmPT no worries man. thanks. i'm just glad to help out :-)

  • Hey man, I've really been digging your videos! This is your best one. I loved the solo, inspirational stuff. What kind of pickups are those, if you don't mind me by asking? A reply would be much appreciated, thanks.

  • @LetsGetHighOnMorris thanks a bunch. i appreciate your compliments. the pick-ups are lace sensors. i use the silver and gold model. billy used the red for bridge, blue for neck and the silver in the middle position. they're great. strat twang with more bite and bottom end.

  • @hakunamatataas how constructive. it's a free world man. get over it. no one's forced you to listen. poor grammar aswell. i assume english isn't your mother tongue or you should be ashamed over yourself. btw, your blocked aswell ;-)

  • I really like your guitar, i really like starla, i really like your skills, very good solo, but i think it's impossible to perform starla without the sonic equipment used by billy. because starla is also this. the beautiful sonic storm solo. anyway good job, you know how to play guitar.
