The chimes (tubular bells) starting around 1:00:16 linger on after the symphony as if the audience should be reeling as if from a bomb blast of large-scale human emotion stretched across a great expanse of land over the course of seasons of time, the ear ringing after a concussion. I see some foreshadowing of this final effect in the lingering cymbal (or gong?) at 54:10. That poor confused person clapping as the chimes resonate and die wasn't listening at all well! :(
Every time I hear those last few minutes (and I've listened to this piece probably 40 times by now,) I get a shiver down my spine and start twitching. Such a wonderful piece, and an excellent interpretation.
Intensely beautiful music. Thank you for posting it. Somebody used the first movement as music for a video of an Art Nouveau bust that was made in 1900 in Hungary. You can see and hear it by searching for Zsolnay Luna.
